Arlington, Texas - This week's national rankings for women's track and field has a number of UTA athletes holding firm for a spot in the NCAA Preliminary Round Meet.
The top 48 individual and top 24 relays that declare will get a spot in the meet which will be held in Austin from May 27-29.
Jasmine Walls' 100 meter time of 11.81 set a few weeks ago is still good for 38th in the West Region while her season best 200 meter time of 24.02 is 31st.
Antonia Hopkins is still firmly in the 200 meters in 26th place in the region with a mark of 23.99.
One athlete is close to getting into the 400 meter hurdles. Megan Turner's 1:01.86 is not far behind the current mark of 1:01.34 that would get her in the field.
The 4x100 relay team of Walls, DeAndrea Smith, Shannon Reynolds and Brittany Culbertson ran a season best 45.87 at the Drake Relays last week and that mark is 22nd in the region and within the qualifying top 24.
The women's team will be back in action this weekend at the Northwestern State meet which is the final competition before host the Southland Conference Meet at Maverick Stadium from May 14-16.
