Jasmine Walls Named SLC Outstanding Track Performer

Frisco, Texas - Senior All-American Jasmine Walls was named the women's outstanding track performer after recording back-to-back wins in the 100m and 200m last weekend at the 2010 Southland Conference Championships held in Arlington, Texas. Freshman Shannon Reynolds and junior Jerono Patrober also represented UT Arlington as award winners.
Walls, who won both the 100m (11.56) and 200m (23.36) has now won three outdoor titles in the 100m and three outdoor titles in the 200m and has won 10 conference championships during her career with the Mavericks.
Shannon Reynolds was named the women's freshman of the year. Reynolds placed third in the 100m (11.70), second in the 200m (23.81) and was a member of the second place 4x100m relay team.
The women's newcomer of the year award was given to junior Jerono Patrober. Patrober finished third in the 3,000 (17:37.24) and sixth in the 10,000 (36:56.92).
The annual Southland Conference Outdoor Track and Field Awards are voted on by the league's men's and women's head coaches and are based on the performances of the student-athletes' outdoor track and field season.
Additionally, all event winners earn first-team all-conference honors, while the second- and third-place finishers earn second- and third-team all-conference honors, respectively.
