HAGLUND EYES RETURN TO NATIONALS

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - - UTA senior distance runner Kajsa Haglund clocked a personal-best time of 2:08.83 to win Heat 1 and advance to the finals on the women's 800 meters at the 2004 NCAA Midwest Regionals Meet here Friday night.
A top five finish in Saturday's finals and Haglund would make a return trip to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, June 9-12 at the Mike Myers Stadium in Austin. The race is slated to begin at 7:15 p.m.
Haglund's time was the third fastest in school history and the second fastest in the Southland Conference this season. Mishael Bertrand has the school record of 2:07.78 set in 2001.
Senior Erik Peterrson finished 18th in the men's 5,000 meters with a time of 14:55.21.
Sophomore Adam Stafford advanced to Saturday's 110-meter hurdle finals with a qualifying time of 14.16 seconds.
Scheduled to compete Saturday is freshman Tiffanie Reeves in the women's shot put.
