Caroline Erlingson was named Southland Conference All-Academic

ARLINGTON, Tx. - Takeshi Fujiwara, Byron Majors and Caroline Erlingson have been named to the Southland Conference Track and Field/Cross Country All-Academic team, the league office announced today.

Fujiwara qualified for NCAA Regionals in the 400 meters and was a member of the regional qualifying 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams. His best performance in the 400m came at the Southland Conference Championships where he ran a 46.71 and finished fifth in the prelims. He placed fourth in the final of that event for his top performance place-wise of the season. The graduate student from San Salvador, El Salvador registered a 3.30 GPA in business administration.

Majors was a member of the regional qualifying 4x100 relay team where he ran the anchor leg. He helped that team become the conference champion in a time of 39.75. His 4x100 relay teams won four titles this season and he posted a season best time of 10.58 in the 100 meters at the Southland Conference Meet. He also ran the 60 meters for UTA during indoor season. The junior from Cameron, Texas is an exercise science major and had 3.098 grade point average.

Erlingson, a junior from Angelholm, Sweden, recorded personal bests in both the 800 meters (2:15.76) and 1500 meters (4:36.87) during the season. The 1500 meter time came at the Texas Relays where she finished first in the prelims of the event. She finished 4th in the mile run at the Razorback Invitational during the indoor season and 11th at the SLC Cross Country Championships with a time of 22:40. She finished second at the North Texas Season Open and North Texas Invitational during cross country. She is a biological chemistry major and has a GPA of 3.425.
