Erin Clute enters her 10th year as an assistant volleyball coach at UT Arlington in 2009-10. Clute came to UT Arlington after serving as an assistant coach at Trinity Valley High School in Fort Worth in 1998-99. During her coaching tenure at UT Arlington, Clute has mentored 25 Southland All-Conference performers, including seven first team selections. Most recently in 2008, Amanda Aguilera became the eighth UT Arlington freshman to earn first team All-Conference honors, and she is the first since 1993 to earn first team accolades. Other top performers Clute has coached at UT Arlington include Olaya Pazo (SLC Player of the Year, 2002), Carol Bozikis (SLC Newcomer of the Year, 2001) and Caley Smith (SLC Freshman of the Year, 2001). Clute has coached 31 Southland Conference Player of the Week selections and nine SLC All-Tournament team picks. In her nine seasons as an assistant with the Mavericks program, UT Arlington has won 163 matches with a .586 winning percentage. A member of TCU's first volleyball team in 1996, Clute finished her freshman campaign with 245 kills on 673 attacks for a .211 hitting percentage. She also tallied 54 total blocks. In a match against the Mavericks in Texas Hall, Clute posted eight kills in 18 attempts (.333 attack percentage) in the 1996 UTA/Jason's Deli Invitational. She played her prep career at Waxahachie High School where she was a two-time team Most Valuable Player and first team all-district selection. In addition, Clute was named the District 15-4A Hitter of the Year in 1995. Clute has coached club volleyball for 12 years and has coached for the North Dallas Junior Volleyball Association for the past 10 years. Her club coaching experience includes guiding eight teams to the Junior Olympic Volleyball Championships. |
