VB: Magical run for 1989 Final Four team

The 1989 UTA volleyball team earned 25 straight wins, a fifth straight Southland title and a trip to the Final Four.


VB: Mavs travel to Arkansas for two road matches

UT Arlington will face Arkansas State on Friday at 7 p.m. and UALR on Saturday at 7 p.m.

2007 (Senior)
Ranked eighth in UTA single-season block assists (122), eighth in UTA career block assists (296) and is tied for eighth in UTA career total blocks (325)... finished second on the team in block assists and total blocks (130)... was third on Mavs with a .271 hitting percentage... averaged 1.19 blocks per game ranking sixth in the Southland Conference and 123rd in the NCAA... ranked eighth in the SLC averaging 1.14 blocks per game during conference play... tied for second in the conference for most blocks in a single match with 11 in four games against Northwestern State... played in all 109 games and started in all 30 matches... recorded 22 kills and 18 blocks in 14 games played at the Middle Tennessee Blue Raider Bash... led UTA in blocks 12 times... totaled 83 kills, 64 blocks (62 block assists) and a .269 hitting percentage in SLC competition... posted a season-high12 kills in five games against Ball State (09/15/07)... posted double figures in blocks twice, including 10 blocks (two solo blocks) against Georgia State at the Middle Tennessee Blue Raider Bash (09/07/07)... collected five or more blocks in eight consecutive matches midway through the season... had a career-high 11 blocks in final career match against Northwestern State in the first round of the Southland Conference Tournament (11/16/07)... member of the Capital One/Southland Conference 2007 Commissioner's Fall Academic Honor Roll.

2006 (Junior)
Started all 34 matches in which she appeared... played in 121 games... ranked third on the team with 117 total blocks, while leading the team with 13 solo blocks... opened the season with seven kills and three blocks in a sweep of Seton Hall... recorded seven kills and nine blocks (three solo) in a sweep of Grambling State... logged a career-best 10 blocks in a match against Tulsa... followed up a 10 kill effort against Arkansas-Little Rock with eight kills on 12 attempts without an error against St. Francis (NY)... opened conference play with 10 kills and eight blocks in a victory over Texas State... recorded 12 kills with only three errors on 29 attempts in a come-from-behind victory over Sam Houston State... set new career marks with 14 kills on 35 attempts in a thrilling comeback victory over McNeese State... ended the regular season with eight blocks against Texas-San Antonio... recorded four kills in each of the two victories in the SLC Tournament.

2005 (Sophomore)
One of the most improved players... played in 94 of the 99 games while appearing in all 27 matches... established new career-bests in every category... delivered 145 kills in 458 attempts... had career-best 11 kills against Texas State, Southeastern Louisiana and Louisiana-Monroe... hit .478 against ULM with no errors in 23 attempts... third on the team with 72 total blocks... led the team with eight solo blocks... posted seven kills and seven total blocks in the season-opening victory over Prairie View A&M... had nine blocks (one solo) to go along with her 11 kills against TXST... had two service aces against Maryland and Iowa.

2004 (Freshman)
Played in 20 games for UTA... recorded first collegiate kill and dig at Canisius College... collected 13 total kills in 33 attempts with only two errors for a .333 attack percentage... had four kills, two assists and three blocks against Arkansas-Little Rock... posted four kills in a road match against Texas-San Antonio.

Hempstead High School
Participated in volleyball, basketball and soccer at HHS...member of the 2003 Iowa 4A state championship squad... named to the Iowa 4A all-tournament team... a first team all-state selection... an Iowa Senior All-Star Team member... all Tri-State area first-team selection...led the 4A class with 401 kills as a senior, averaging 4.65 per game...was fifth in attack percentage, hitting .369 and seventh in digs per game (2.85)... a two-time first team All-Mississippi Valley Conference selection... earned fifth team all-state honors as a junior... squad was the Iowa 4A regional runner-up in 2002...earned all tri-state area second team honors after collecting 271 kills, 76 blocks and 178 digs... a MVC honorable mention selection as a sophomore...also a member of the National Honor Society...an academic letterwinner throughout high school campaign.

Daughter of Sue and Tony Kalb... born Feb. 3, 1986... a biology major at UTA.
