VB: Mavs complete final scrimmages before home opener

The UTA volleyball team completed their blue/white scrimmages today.

Lindsay Scanlan has been an assistant coach for the UT Arlington volleyball program since 2010.

During her first season with the Mavericks, Scanlan helped coach three players to All-Southland Conference selections and helped UT Arlington finish with a 10-6 record in SLC play.

Scanlan, originally from Rockwall, Texas, came to UT Arlington after four years as the starting setter at Arkansas, where she graduated in the spring of 2010 with a double major in criminology and sociology.

She finished her collegiate volleyball career with the Razorbacks as the school's third all-time leader in career assists (2,825) and ranks fifth in career assists per set (7.12). She notched a career-high 60 assists during her senior season against Alabama (10/9/09), which marked the fourth highest total in the Southeastern Conference. Also during her senior campaign, she was awarded the SEC Community Service Award.

Scanlan was a three-time SEC Academic Honor Roll recipient and recorded at least 400 assists in all four seasons while playing in over 300 sets during her Razorback career.

She was a two-sport standout in high school (Rockwall) also excelling in basketball. She was a four-time all-district selection in volleyball and was named the district MVP as a senior in 2005. In addition, Scanlan played for the Dallas Force club team earning MVP honors following her senior year. She helped the Force to three consecutive national championships in 2004-06.

Scanlan also played on the Rockwall basketball team that made an appearance at the state tournament.
