Ashley Smith joined the Mavericks after closing out her two-sport career at Alvin High School...an all-state finalist in 2000, she helped lead her volleyball squad to a regional championship...Smith earned all-district setter honors in 2001 and was named to the Cy-Fair all-tournament team in 2002...she has competed in the USA Volleyball Nationals three times as a member of the South Shore Mizuno squad and also spent two summers attending the World Volleyball Center in Huegonot, New York.
Daughter of Marilyn and Randy Smith...born Aug. 18, 1985...an education major at UTA...older sister, Caley, was a four-year letterwinner on the UTA volleyball team (2001-04).
