DENTON, Texas - The UT Arlington volleyball team fell in four sets, 3-1, to North Texas on Tuesday night at the Volleyball Center and Office Complex.
"North Texas did make an adjustment in their defense, which allowed their defensive game to pick up quite considerably and they just started playing at a little bit faster pace than us unfortunately," UT Arlington coach Diane Seymour said. "They made a defensive adjustment that paid off for them.
"We didn't quite catch up to the speed of their game in sets two and three and came up a little short in set four."
With this loss UTA picks up their first defeat of the season, dropping to 3-1.
The Mavericks took an early lead winning the first set in a 25-21 battle, but North Texas came back to win the second set and tie the match 1-1 with a 25-19 set. The final two sets both ended in a 25-20 North Texas victory as the Mean Green took the match.
The Mavericks compete in the Baylor Classic in Waco as they take on Mississippi State Friday at 4:30 p.m. The Mavs close out the tournament Saturday with matches against Baylor and Tulsa at 10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., respectively.
