ARLINGTON, Texas – The Mavericks spilt the final day of the 2013 Hilton Maverick Classic with a sweep over Mississippi Valley State and a 3-0 loss to Texas A&M Corpus Christi.
"I think we should have walked away from the tournament 2-1 and that's highly disappointing because we didn't put enough good points together," UT Arlington coach Diane Seymour said. "On the positive side, we had some good strides from our outside hitters. Shelby (Dickson) had a good weekend. Hannah Baptiste and Karli Nanny also looked good.
"Stacey Koch also emerged for us there at the end. She hadn't really done much for us yet this year until the last set against Corpus Christi."

The Mavericks defeated the Delta Devilettes 3-0 Saturday afternoon at College Park Center in their second match of the Hilton Maverick Classic.
Koch, a sophomore, picked up her first start of her career for the Mavs leading the team with eight kills. Nanny saw action for the first time this season and picked up seven kills in just three sets.
"Last week I felt like I didn't play up to my full potential," Koch said. "Tonight I was able to come out and play well for my team and help us pick up a win."
The Mavericks started the first set strong and continued with that momentum throughout the set to take the 1-0 lead (25-11).
MVSU showed up early in the second set stepping out to the lead. Two hitting errors by the Devilettes allowed UTA to take the lead 15-14. Freshman Briana Sharratt got her first kill and the set point to give the Mavs the 2-0 lead over the Devilettes.
UTA and MVSU went back-and-forth early, but the Mavs pulled a head going on a 5-0 run to win the set (25-12) and the match.
The Mavericks improve to 5-4 with the victory and 1-1 in the tournament as they play their final match of the Hilton Maverick Classic tonight at 7 p.m. against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
