JONESBORO, Arkansas – UT Arlington swept Arkansas State 3-0 Friday night on the road, improving to 14-9 overall and 7-3 in Sun Belt Conference competition.
The Redwovles scored first, but a kill from Dickson tied the match 1-1. The battle continued as both teams went back-and-forth. Ultimately, UTA won the first set 25-22.
The Mavericks led early in the second set, but Arkansas State came back to lead. UTA came back to tie the match at 21 and scored the next four points, winning the second set 25-21.
Arkansas State didn't stand a chance as the Mavericks won the third set by 10, 25-15, for the sweep. Gross had the final kill pushing the Mavericks to victory. UTA held the Redwlves to -.029 attack percentage in the final set.
UT Arlington continues its road trip as the Mavericks face ULAR Saturday at 7 p.m.
