ARLINGTON, Texas - The UT Arlington volleyball team is hard at work preparing for its first season in the Sun Belt Conference this fall. The Mavericks will take on Tulsa and Oklahoma in two spring season matches this weekend.
"We will play Tulsa and OU, definitely a challenging weekend as both opponents are top 50 programs," UT Arlington head volleyball coach Diane Seymour said.
The Mavericks finished their 2012 season with a 9-22 overall record, while going 5-13 in Western Athletic Conference play. Spring season practices began this month in order to help prepare UTA for its next volleyball season in the Sun Belt Conference.
"Spring practices have been going well as our focus has been about diversifying and speeding up our offense," Seymour said. "This weekend is really just about competing again and evaluating the changes we have been working on, and it should be fun."
UT Arlington volleyball will be returning 11 players and all six starters for the 2013 season.
