ARLINGTON, Texas - The UT Arlington volleyball team will be hosting a spring tournament Saturday, April 6 at the Maverick Activities Center beginning at 9:30 a.m.
The Mavericks are fresh off a solid showing in a spring tournament hosted by Tulsa. UTA defeated the host Golden Hurricane and fell to Oklahoma by only six points.
Participating in the UTA spring tournament is: Texas Tech, TCU, Abilene Christian (ACU), North Texas (UNT), Oklahoma (OU), SMU, Dallas Baptist (DBU), Baylor and UT Arlington.
Each team competing in the tournament will play two sets to 25 points and an optional third set to 15 points. All participating schools will play in two rounds of three team pools.
In the first round of the day, the Mavericks will face the Red Raiders of Texas Tech at 9:30 a.m. before taking on ACU at 11:30 a.m. on court one. In round two, UTA will play DBU at 2 p.m. and close out the day with a match against TCU at 3 p.m., also on court one. For the complete tournament schedule, please click here.
“We played pretty well last weekend, so hopefully we can put good back-to-back weekends together,” UTA head coach Diane Seymour said. “I would like to see us continue to block better as well as get more hitters consistently involved in the match.”
This tournament will mark the last time the Mavericks will compete at home before entering the Sun Belt Conference in 2013. In its first and only year in the Western Athletic Conference last season, UT Arlington went 5-13 with a 9-22 overall record and placed sophomore Taylor Gross on the All-WAC second team.
