ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington coach Diane Seymour announced the hiring of Kelly Richardson as an assistant volleyball coach.

"Kelly brings more than 10 years of coaching experience with seven seasons as a collegiate head coach, which means she will be well equipped to step into this role and wear many different hats," Seymour said. "She had an outstanding playing career which will serve us well, too. We had several great conversations and she comes highly recommended, and I’m excited to begin working alongside of Kelly."

Richardson comes to UTA after spending six seasons as head volleyball coach at Southwest Baptist University in Missouri where she ranks third all-time in coaching wins.

Richardson attended Missouri State University on a volleyball scholarship where she played setter. After completing her 2000 season at MSU, she transferred to Evangel University where she continued to set and also played right side. Richardson broke six school records while attending Evangel, and was the first player in school history to be named a volleyball All-American.

Richardson was also named All-Conference and All-Region all three years at Evangel, and was named National Player of the Week three times. Richardson graduated from Evangel with her B.S. in physical education and a health minor.

After graduating from Evangel, Richardson became the head volleyball coach at Republic High School where she led her first team to a third-place finish in the Missouri State Championships. This was Republic's first district win in school history, and first time in the Missouri state tournament. Richardson had two All-State players and sent four players from her 2005 squad on to play college volleyball. Republic made it to the district semifinals in 2006. Richardson had players attend Missouri Southern State University, Drury University and College of the Ozarks.

She married Robb Richardson of Arlington, Washington on July 25, 2003. Robb and Kelly welcomed their first child (Rylan) into their family on September 14, 2011.
