ARLINGTON, Texas - UT Arlington met for its first Blue/White Scrimmage of the 2012 season, playing three sets to 25 and one to 15 in College Park Center Tuesday.

“I think we saw some improvements,” UT Arlington head coach Diane Seymour said about her young team. “Early we were missing a lot serves and we mentioned it to them and they seem to improve on that as they day went on. I thought they got more comfortable too.”

I thought some of the young kids played a little bit nervous early, but everybody settled in a played very hard so that’s a good sign for us.”

The Mavericks are bringing back six veterans for their 2012 squad, but College Park Center is new to the entire team.

“We’ve been practicing in here for a week and that’s helped,” sophomore returner Ashley Bennett said. “We’ve been full out practicing in here and that’s really helps come game time it felt pretty normal. We’re all excited to play here.”

UT Arlington will take the court Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. for its second Blue/White Scrimmage to workout some nerves before hosting its first tournament Friday, August 24.

“Personally, putting on a jersey makes me play harder, but the excitement is there and it makes it feel more real especially being a freshman and being in a big stadium” Caitlyn Cooney said.

“We’ll probably look at one or two alternative line ups.” Seymour said about Wednesday’s scrimmage “I think we’ve got a pretty good idea of who we’d go with if we started play tomorrow. We’ll probability mix it up a little bit more for tomorrow.”
