ARLINGTON, Texas - UT Arlington volleyball concluded three-a-day workouts and is adjusting to two-a-days to prepare for the 2014 season.
The Mavericks open their season at home hosting the College Park Maverick Classic (Aug. 29-30) at College Park Center. Former Western Athletic Conference opponent Denver along with Jackson State and Incarnate Word will make up the four-team tournament. UT Arlington will play its first match Aug. 29 (Friday) at 7 p.m. against UIW.
With the home opener just 14 days away, UT Arlington coach Diane Seymour likes the progress the team has made so far.
"I think our team chemistry is really good and that always makes it nice because we're a little bit older this year," Seymour said. "We're not heavy on the upperclassmen and we're really well balanced with four seniors and we have good leadership for our newcomers."
"As freshmen, I think we're having a tougher time than the returners, but I think we'll get used to it as we continue to practice and work together," Canete said. "The practices are hard, but good and Diane (Seymour) is working us hard and we're trying to keep up."
Season and individual tickets for the 2014 UT Arlington volleyball season are now on sale at utatickets.com and by calling the College Park Center box office at 817-272-9595.
Season tickets are $40 for all 17 home matches at College Park Center. Single game tickets are $5 for the general public and $3 for UTA students. UT Arlington students also have the option to buy the Mavericks All-Sports Pass for $25 payable on MyMav. This pass allows entry to all home athletic events during the 2014-15 academic year, which includes men's and women's basketball, baseball and softball.
