ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington volleyball team competed in an intersquad blue/white scrimmage Saturday at College Park Center. This is the only live action match the Mavs will see before beginning the 2013 season in the Sun Belt Conference.
"I'd like to see us stay sharp in this scrimmage like we have looked all week," UT Arlington coach Diane Seymour said. "I want us to get as comfortable as we can in a few different starting rotations we’re looking at and see some kids play together and hopefully compete."
Thirteen Mavericks, nine returners and four newcomers, saw equal action in the scrimmage. The final member of the 2013 UTA squad was out due to injury. Seniors Megan Casey, Shelby Dickson and Charmaine Whitmore were dominant during competition but also took time to continue to be leaders to the underclassmen.
UTA will host Abilene Christian University Friday, Aug. 30 at 7 p.m. to open the season. To continue the 2013 UTA Hilton Invitational, the Mavs will face Grambling State Saturday, Aug. 31 at 1:30 p.m. before taking on former Western Athletic Conference rival Louisiana Tech at 7 p.m. For the complete volleyball schedule, click here.
