ARLINGTON, Texas -- UTA senior standout Qiana Canete has been tabbed to the University of New Mexico's Lobo Classic All-Tournament Team, it was announced.
A native of Copperas Cove, Texas, Canete has had a decorated career with the Mavericks. She has 1,369 digs, to rank 13th in school history and 1,196 kills, checking in 10th in UTA career history.
As a senior, Canete is averaging 3.09 kills and 3.47 digs per set, accounting for 3.39 points per set. During the three games in New Mexico, Canete, a preseason All-Sun Belt Conference selection, had 31 kills and 3.10 kills per set, hitting .193 and owning 2.70 digs per set. She also added five blocks.
UTA (5-4) returns to action with a four-game weekend, dubbed the Maverick Classic, at College Park Center. UTA faces UC Davis on Thursday at 6 p.m. CT before the tournament continues with a four-game day on Friday, including a UTA matchup vs. Houston Baptist at 7 p.m.
