Each week, the UTA Athletic Department spotlights a Texas Trust Scholar-Athlete of the Week to showcase the excellence in academic achievement of its student-athletes.
This week's honoree is volleyball's redshirt freshman Madison Smith. A product of Bryan, Texas, and Rudder High School, Smith is a business finance major and sports a 3.514 cumulative GPA. After fighting through a redshirt season due to injury in 2016, Smith made her collegiate debut during UTA's 3-0 weekend in the UTA Invitational Tournament.
