ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington volleyball team took time out of preparing for the next WAC road trip to Texas State and UTSA to give back to the community.
Five students from each grade level at Johns Elementary were selected this six week time period by their teachers to participate in the Maverick Superstars program. These students, varying from kindergarten to sixth grade, have shown outstanding achievement and all-around leadership in the classroom.
These Maverick Superstars got a special pass to leave class to have a meet and greet with the UTA volleyball team. There, they asked the girls about college and being a student-athlete at the highest level. These hardworking students will also be honored at the Oct. 11 and Oct. 13 home volleyball matches against Idaho and Seattle, respectively.
"It’s always great to have our players get out in the community," UTA assistant coach Erin Clute said. "I think it is especially important for our athletes to be able to reach children in our area to show the importance of hard work and how college athletics has opened doors for their education opportunities."
Season and single game ticket can be purchased online at UTATickets.com. Season tickets are just $49 and include all 15 home games. For more information, questions or to purchase tickets over the phone contact 817-272-6319.
