ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington Volleyball recognized its alumni during Saturday, with 29 former student-athletes and 61 families in attendance at College Park Center.
The 1973 volleyball team, the first at UTA, was honored for its 40th anniversary, and as the first volleyball team ever at UTA.
Kathy Stanfield, Pam Morris and Ellisan Woods received a UTA Letterwinner blanket. UTA President, Dr. Vistasp Karbhari and his wife, Lisa, attended the Alumni Match and had a chance to meet the alumni.
"There were 16 girls who played at the Alumni Match and they really had a good time," said Kris Wood, coordinator of the Athletic Alumni Chapter. "It was our first year to do this and it turned out nice."
The Alumni Match preceded Saturday night's match against Arkansas State.
"There was a really good turnout at the alumni match," said UT Arlington coach Diane Seymour, also a UTA alum. "They've wanted to play a long time, so as soon as we got enough healthy bodies we did it."
A Homecoming reception for all athletic alumni will be held Nov. 15 at 4:30. To RSVP, contact Kris Wood at email@example.com.
