Volleyball looks to bounce back after rough weekend road trip

The UT Arlington volleyball team will open their final homestand of the season when they host Texas State Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Texas Hall.

The match is $2 Tuesday at Texas Hall with all seats just $2 per person. UT Arlington students are free with student identification.

The Mavericks (13-9, 6-3) enter the match after back-to-back losses at McNeese State and Lamar. The Cowgirls remained undefeated at home with a 3-0 Friday and Lamar stayed unbeaten in the East Division with a 3-0 win on Saturday afternoon.

Senior outside hitter, Torie Dacus, moved into sixth place on the career digs list at UTA with 1,426. She can move up one notch with 30 digs this week.

Freshman outside hitter Bianca Sauls has led or shared the lead for most kills on the squad in three of the past five matches. She ranks fourth on the squad with 150 kills this season.

Texas State (12-9, 5-4) also lost both matches at McNeese State and Lamar last weekend.

UT Arlington defeated TXST 3-1 in an earlier meeting this season. Texas State has won five of the last seven meetings between the two teams and has lost just once at Texas Hall since 2004.

UT Arlington will continue the homestand Thrusday when they host Northwestern State at 7 p.m.
