ARLINGTON, Texas -

FIRST SERVE
UT Arlington returns to Texas Hall on Saturday to face Nicholls while carrying a four-match home winning streak and a perfect 4-0 record at home during Southland Conference competition. A win would propel the Mavs into the top half of the SLC standings as only five conference teams enter the weekend with a winning record. Nicholls will look to end a losing streak that was extended to three matches on Thursday with a three-set loss at Texas State.

INSIDE THE SERIES
Saturday is the 33rd all-time meeting between UT Arlington and Nicholls with the Mavericks holding a 23-9 lead in the series. The Mavs own a 13-1 advantage over the Colonels in Arlington and haven't dropped a match to Nicholls at Texas Hall since 2003 (1-3). The Mavericks won six in a row before dropping a five-set thriller last season in Thibodaux. UTA has won 15 of the last 20 matchups with an 8-1 record in Arlington during that span.

ON THE HORIZON
The Mavericks go back on the road for their final matches against Southland Conference Eastern Division opponents with road matches against McNeese State (10/30 - 7 p.m.) and Stephen F. Austin (10/31 - 4 p.m.). UT Arlington will look to win its first road match of the season as they enter 0-7 against road opponents. The Mavs are 2-2 in neutral site matches.

UTA HITS HALF-WAY POINT IN SOUTHLAND CONFERENCE SCHEDULE
Eight matches down, eight matches to go for UT Arlington in Southland Conference play as the Mavericks are among seven teams in the SLC with at least a .500 SLC record (4-4). The Mavs have four home and four road matches left on their schedule, with their final five matches all coming against SLC Western Division opponents. The SLC West is led by Sam Houston State (8-1) with Lamar (6-2) in second and Texas State (5-3) in third. The Mavs are tied with UTSA (4-4).

SEYMOUR WINS 50TH CAREER SOUTHLAND CONFERENCE MATCH
UT Arlington head coach Diane Seymour won her 50th career Southland Conference match on Thursday, Oct. 22, against Southeastern Louisiana in a three-set sweep. Seymour, now in her sixth season as head coach of the Mavs, has won at least 12 SLC matches in three seasons while notching 15 in her rookie season in 2004, and collecting 12 SLC wins in back-to-back seasons in 2006 and 2007 to finish in second place in the league. Seymour is the second Maverick head coach to win 50 career SLC matches, and in her time as a student-athlete (4 years) and assistant coach (8 years) and head coach, Seymour has been a part of 192 SLC victories with the Mavericks.

MAVERICKS 4-0 AT HOME IN SLC PLAY FOR FIRST TIME SINCE 2006
UT Arlington continued its success at home with a three-set sweep over Southeastern Louisiana on Thursday, Oct. 22. The win made the Mavericks 4-0 at home during SLC play - which is the first time UTA has accomplished that feat since 2006, when the Mavs started 7-0 at home against SLC opponents.

SHAFFER EQUALS CAREER-HIGH FOR A THREE-SET MATCH
Sophomore Alicia Shaffer led all players with 20 digs against Southeastern Louisiana, which equaled her previous career-high for digs in a three-set match. Shaffer also collected 20 digs last season in a three-set loss on the road against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (9/27/08). It was Shaffer's fifth career 20-dig match and her third this season (25 at Sam Houston State, 21 vs. Arkansas State). Shaffer has led the Mavs in digs seven times this season and 25 times in her career. Shaffer currently leads the Mavs and ranks ninth in the SLC averaging 3.49 digs per set.

MAVS SET SCHOOL RECORD WITH ONE ATTACK ERROR - 4TH TIME IN NCAA HISTORY
UT Arlington made school history on Wednesday night committing just one attack error in a three-set victory over Northwestern State. It is also a Southland Conference record and is the only one-attack error match this season in the NCAA. The previous school record was three attack errors, set by the 1985 Mavericks in a three-set win over North Texas (Sept. 25, 1985). In addition, it is only the fourth time in NCAA history that a team has had only one attack error in a match.
