VB: Mavs Travel to Louisiana in Final Road Test

UTA volleyball will wrap up its regular-season road schedule with a pair of matches in Louisiana, facing the Ragin' Cajuns on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. CT and traveling to face ULM at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.

UTA (10-12, 4-5 Sun Belt Conference) is coming off a pair of wins last weekend, including four-set triumphs over Georgia State and Georgia Southern at College Park Center. UTA's two matches at CPC saw a break from a season-long five-match road swing, with the Mavs traveling nearly 4,000 miles during its journey.

The Mavs have totaled a .204 attacking percentage as a team, averaging 12.4 kills, 11.5 assists and 14.8 digs per set. UTA has been led offensively by Zhanelle Geathers, who leads the team with 3.52 kills per set, also adding a career-high 74 digs. Senior outside hitter Qiana Canete is averaging 3.51 kills and 3.08 digs per set, also sporting 34 assists and 23 blocks. Sophomore Kylie Jedlicka is averaging two kills and 2.40 digs per set, with sophomore Madison McConnell charting 1.60 kills and a team-high 0.68 blocks per set, leading the team with a .325 attacking percentage. Freshman Tessa Harfield is averaging 1.02 kills and 0.55 blocks per set. Setters Kailyn Gilbreath (9.00), Madison Helt (1.44) and Haley Higgins (6.60) lead the Mavs in assists. Libero Libbie Vickers leads the team with 3.99 digs per set, with Madelyn St. Germain owning 3.48 digs per set.



Louisiana (15-9, 8-2 Sun Belt) is in the midst of a historic season and are just a half game shy of Texas State in the Sun Belt Western Division standings and a full game shy of South Alabama and Coastal Carolina for the overall lead. The Ragin' Cajuns have hit .218 as a team in 2017, averaging 12.7 kills, 16.9 digs and 12 assists per set. Stacey Reilly paces the team with 2.82 kills per set, also averaging 2.70 digs per set. Hali Wisnoskie is averaging 2.79 kills per set, with Jessica Bartczyn leading the team with 9.65 assists per set. Sydney Davis has a club-high 4.78 digs per set.

ULM (4-23, 0-10 Sun Belt) is coming off a pair of home losses last weekend, three-set setbacks vs. Coastal Carolina and Appalachian State. The Warhawks host Texas State on Thursday before the Mavs venture to Fant-Ewing Coliseum.

UTA leads the all-time series with Louisiana, 16-1, including a 4-1 record in games played in Lafayette. UTA has won four straight since a 2014 loss at UL. The Mavs lead the all-time series with ULM, 45-3, including a 20-1 mark in games played in Monroe. UTA has won three straight in the series with the Warhawks and have won four straight in meetings in Monroe.
