ARLINGTON, Texas - The Mavericks will travel to San Jose, California to take on San Jose State on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 9:00 p.m.
UT Arlington (8-16, 4-8 WAC) defeated the Spartans (11-12, 7-6 WAC) at home earlier this season in four sets, 25-21, 25-23, 22-25, and 25-20. Dickson led the Mavs in that match with a double-double in kills (20) and digs (24). Whitmore, Taylor Gross, and Ashley Bennett all had double-digit kills, 12, 11, and 10 respectively, to help in the winning effort. Welsh tallied a team-high 53 assists while Stetzer had 20 digs behind Dickson's leading 24. Bennett contributed five blocks, all assisted, in the team's seven total on the night.
The Sept. 27 win put the Mavs at 2-1 all-time over San Jose State.
UT Arlington fell in straight sets on the road Thursday to Utah State, 23-25, 25-27, and 18-25. Shelby Dickson led the offense with nine kills while Stacey Koch was the most effective Maverick hitter with a .600 attack percentage. Amanda Welsh tallied 22 assists in the loss and Valerie Stetzer had a team-high eight digs. Charmaine Whitmore had a hand in the team's 11 blocks with seven of her own, all assisted.
For the remainder of the 2012 season, UT Arlington will be providing live video and radio streaming for all home matches.
