ARLINGTON, Texas --
Winners of four of its last six matches, UTA volleyball will continue its homestand with a Monday match vs. Texas State, slated for 6:30 p.m. CT at College Park Center.

UTA (12-14, 6-7 Sun Belt Conference) is in the midst of a three-match stretch over four days, part of a season-long five-match homestand to conclude the regular season. The Mavs, sitting in sixth place overall in the league, posted a four-set win over Little Rock on Friday night before Arkansas State rallied from behind to win the final three games of a four-set win on Saturday.

In UTA's match with A-State, senior Qiana Canete became the school record holder for career kills. A native of Copperas Cove, Texas, Canete eclipsed the modern-era record held by Caley Smith (2001-04) during a 16-kill outing on Saturday, while adding 10 digs for her 16th double-double in 26 matches in 2017. Canete leads the cub with 3.53 kills per set, adding 3.11 digs per set. A versatile talent, she is the only player in program history to rank among the top three in both career kills and digs.

The Mavs have also gotten 3.46 kills per set from fourth-year junior Zhanelle Geathers, who has a career-best 75 digs. Sophomore Kylie Jedlicka, who shined with 20 kills on Friday vs. Little Rock, has averaged 2.10 kills and 2.40 digs per set, with sophomore Madison McConnell owning 1.48 kills, 0.63 digs and a team-high 0.60 blocks per set. Freshman Tessa Harfield has averaged 0.94 kills per set, with freshman Kailyn Gibreath leading the team with nine assists per set, adding 1.78 digs per set. Haley Higgins is averaging 6.52 assists per set, with liberos Libbie Vickers (3.99) and Madelyn St. Germain (3.48) leading the club in digs.

Texas State (20-8, 11-2 Sun Belt Conference) enters the match as one of the hottest teams in the sport, winning 12 of its last 13 matches and claiming all but four sets during a blistering stretch. The Bobcats own a three-set win over the Mavs on Oct. 13 in San Marcos. Texas State has hit .204 as a team, averaging 13.8 kills, 13 assists and 16.9 digs per set.
