ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington will face Seattle on the road on Thursday, Nov. 8 at 9:00 p.m.
The Mavs (8-19, 4-11 WAC) are 1-0 all-time against the Redhawks (7-18, 2-13 WAC), including a three set win at home earlier this season, 25-11, 25-20, 25-19. Taylor Gross led the Mavericks offensively with 13 kills while Ashley Bennett had a team-high .700 attack percentage. Amanda Welsh had a team-high 31 assists and Valerie Stetzer notched 13 digs on the match. Bennett also had a hand in six of the team’s eight total blocks, five assisted and one solo. Saturday’s match will mark the first time in program history UTA has faced the Redhawks of Seattle on their home court.
The Mavericks fell in straight sets to UT San Antonio last Thursday, 17-25, 19-25, and 18-25. Gross and Charmaine Whitmore had a team-high six kills in the match while Welsh tallied 19 assists. Amy Davault and Shelby Dickson each had 10 digs while Whitmore had a hand in four of the team’s seven total blocks, three assisted and one solo.
UT Arlington also fell to Texas State last Saturday, 14-25, 25-22, 17-25, and 21-25. Gross led with 12 kills and a .344 attack percentage. Welsh notched 29 assists while Dickson had a team-high 17 digs. Bennett contributed four blocks, all assisted, of the team’s six total in the match.
For the remainder of the 2012 season, UT Arlington will be providing live video and radio streaming for all home matches.
