ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington volleyball will close out Sun Belt Conference regular-season play on the road at UL Lafayette on Friday at 7 p.m. and UL Monroe on Saturday at 7 p.m.
"It is an important weekend for us," UT Arlington coach Diane Seymour said. "Going into the tournament on a winning note is the focus. Everything will fall into place when we do that. We’ll get it done."
The Mavericks (15-14, 8-8 SBC) are looking for a weekend sweep to earn the fourth seed going into the Sun Belt Volleyball Championship. The tournament will begin Thursday, Nov. 21 at Trojan Arena in Troy, Ala.
UTA leads the all-time series against UL Lafayette (18-12, 8-8 SBC) 41-28. The Mavs swept the Ragin' Cajuns in Arlington on Sept. 28 earlier this season. UTA also leads the all-time series against UL Monroe (6-26, 2-14 SBC) 39-2. The Mavericks beat the Warhawks 3-1 at home on Sept. 27 in their first SBC match in program history.
The Mavs are looking to snap a five-match losing streak after dropping both matches last weekend to South Alabama (3-1) and Troy (3-2) on the road. Despite the struggles, senior middle blocker Charmaine Whitmore now sits at tied for first in the nation in blocks per set (1.75). Whitmore is tied with Wyoming's Erin Kirby for the top spot.
