NEW ORLEANS - The Sun Belt Conference announced the complete bracket, final seeds, and game times for the upcoming Sun Belt Conference Volleyball Championship following the completion of regular season play on Sunday. The single-elimination tournament will be held from Friday, November 18th through Sunday, November 20th at the College Park Center on the campus of UT Arlington in Arlington, Texas.
Eight teams will compete for the Sun Belt Championship and a berth into the 2016 NCAA Women's Volleyball Championship.
The top four teams from each division qualified for the tournament with Arkansas State earning the top overall seed after winning the West division title. Coastal Carolina claimed the East division crown and will be the No. 2 seed in the tournament.
ASU and CCU both finished the regular season with identical 15-1 records but the Red Wolves defeated the Chanticleers in their only meeting this season and therefore earned the top seed.
The Red Wolves (23-7, 15-1 Sun Belt) will take on eighth-seeded Georgia State (10-17, 6-10) in Friday's first round at 5:00 p.m. (CT). The Red Wolves enter the tournament riding an 11-match winning streak.
The Chanticleers (24-4, 15-1 Sun Belt) will face seventh-seeded Georgia Southern (15-17, 7-9 Sun Belt) on Friday at 2:30 p.m. (CT). CCU has won 14 consecutive after losing to ASU back on Sept. 25. The Chants have swept nine consecutive matches and have only lost two sets during their 14-match winning streak.
Texas State (20-11, 13-3 Sun Belt) will be the No. 3 seed in the tournament and will take on sixth-seeded South Alabama (16-13, 7-9 Sun Belt) on Friday at 12 p.m. (CT). The Bobcats defeated the Jaguars, 3-2, back on Sept. 25.
Tournament host, UT Arlington, will be the No. 4 seed in the tournament and will face Little Rock (12-17, 8-8 Sun Belt) in Friday's finale at 7:30 p.m. (CT). UTA, as tournament host, reserved the right to choose the playing time of their first round match and chose the final slot on Friday. The Mavericks (16-15, 10-6 Sun Belt) swept the Trojans in their two meetings this season.
The 2016 Sun Belt Conference Volleyball Championship begins on Friday with four first round matches. The action will continue on Saturday with two semifinal matches. The 2016 Sun Belt Conference Volleyball Championship match is scheduled for Sunday at 1 p.m. (CT). All matches will be available for viewing on ESPN3.
