TROY, Alabama – UT Arlington volleyball senior Charmaine Whitmore and junior Taylor Gross earned All-Sun Belt Conference honors Wednesday night.

"Charmaine and Taylor are both very deserving of their awards," UT Arlington coach Diane Seymour said. "They both had great seasons and it's nice that they were recognized."

Whitmore, a middle blocker from Fort Smith, Ark., was named to the 2013 Sun Belt First Team All-Conference. She currently leads the nation, SBC and Mavericks in blocks per set with 1.79.

Whitmore earned Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week honors on Sept. 8 earlier this season. She was also named the 2013 Baylor Classic Defensive MVP as well as to the Black and Gold Challenge All-Tournament team.

Gross, a junior from Allen, Texas, was named to the 2013 Sun Belt Second Team All-Conference. Gross currently leads the Mavs and is eighth in the conference with a .289 attack percentage. She is also second on the team and fourth in the SBC in blocks per set (1.12).

Gross is second for the Mavericks in kills with 251, averaging 2.07 per set. She was named to the 2013 Baylor Classic and UTA Hilton Invitational All-Tournament teams earlier this year.

Along with Whitmore and Gross, three Mavericks earned Sun Belt Academic honors Wednesday night. Caitlyn Cooney, Shelby Dickson and Karli Nanny were named to the All-SBC Academic Team for their efforts in the classroom.

The Mavericks will face South Alabama in the first-round of the Sun Belt Conference Volleyball Championship on Thursday at 5 p.m. at Trojan Arena in Troy, Ala.
