One of the most decorated distance runners in UTA track history, Mishael Bertrand begins her second season as an assistant coach to work with distance runners.
She finished sixth in the women's 800 meters at the U.S. Track and Field Championships in Carson, Calif., in July 2005.
The NCAA Indoor All-American was a member of 10 UTA teams that won Southland Conference championships between 1999-2001. She is the school record holder in the 800 meters, both indoor and outdoor. She earned all-American honors in the 800 meters at the 2000 NCAA Indoor Championships and qualified for the NCAA Championships in the outdoor season of 2000.
The Pottsboro, Texas, native captured six individual conference titles in the 800 meters and was the member of three relays teams that won SLC championships.
Bertrand has competed in three consecutive U.S. Outdoor Championships and advanced to the semifinals of the 2004 U.S. Olympic Trails in the 800 meters.
Bertrand graduated with a bachelor of science degree in information systems at UTA. She is engaged to Brandon Berger and will be married July 23.
