Arlington, Texas - With just a few days of practice, the UT Arlington men's and women's cross country teams will open their season at the MSU Mustangs Cross Country Stampede Invitational in Wichita Falls, Texas tomorrow evening.
The invitational consists of eight teams that includes Dallas Baptist, Eastern New Mexico, East Central, Rogers State, Southwest Christian and Clarendon College.
"I think this meet will be a big confidence builder going into the season," said Head Coach John Sauerhage. "All the athletes get a chance to compete and a few of them might get an opportunity to run at the front of the pack. There running on a measured course against competition and we will get a better idea on where everybody is at."
The women will begin at 7 p.m. with a 4K run while the men will begin shortly after at 7:30 p.m. with the 6K.
"We've had pretty good workouts and a decent time trail Saturday. Now we can compare ourselves to other competition and get a better feel on how high we want to set our goals for this cross country season," Sauerhage said.
