HARRIERS HOST MAVIN' MAVS MEET

The UT Arlington cross country team will welcome North Texas, Central Arkansas and women's teams from Midwestern State and SMU to the 2007 Movin' Mavs Cross Country Challenge Saturday morning at the The Gerald Richey course at Vandergriff Park. In addition to the college races, a number of high school runners will compete in six different races. The race will serve as a course preview for those qualifying for the UIL Region II Cross Country Meet in October. The rolling schedule will begin at 8:30 a.m. with the university women's race followed by the university men, Division I girls, Division I boys, Division II girls, Division II boys, Division III girls and concluding with the Division III boys. The races will be two miles for all women's/girls races. The university men will race four miles while the high school boys will run a 5K. The UT Arlington men's team returns its top five runners, including senior Jody Broccoli-Hickey. Hickey finished 13th at the SLC Championship last fall and then freshman Armando Saldivar took 17th place at the conference meet. The women's team returns senior Carranda Mose and the sophomore tandem Caroline Erlingson and Ida Landgraff. Mose (12th/22:23) and Landgraff (14th/23:35) finished in the top 20 at the conference meet last year. Following Saturday's race, the UT Arlington cross country team will compete at the Texas A&M Invitational, Sept. 22. utamavs.com
