UT ARLINGTON SET TO COMPETE AT NCAA SOUTH CENTRAL REGIONAL IN WACO

ARLINGTON, Texas - The UT Arlington men's and women's cross country teams will compete in the NCAA South Central Region Cross Country Championships in Waco, Texas on the campus of Baylor University at Cottonwood Creek Golf Course on Saturday, Nov. 15.
The Maverick women will begin their 6K meet at 10 a.m., with a total of 200 runners competing from 24 universities in the region.
Senior Caroline Erlingson is the Mavericks top candidate to qualify for the national meet. Erlingson has led the Mavs in every meet this year, and her top 6K time of 22:40 put her in 11th place at the Southland Conference Championships in Nacogdoches, Texas.
The UT Arlington men's squad will run the course at 10:45 a.m. with 184 runners competing from 23 universities.
Senior Idilio Campos has been UT Arlington's top runner this season and will try to continue his strong season with a finish that will advance him into the NCAA Championships. Campos has run one 10K event this season with a 41st place finish at the Chile Pepper Festival at the University of Arkansas with a time of 30:45.39.
In both the men's and women's competition, the top two teams will qualify for the NCAA National Championship - as well as all of the individual runners from those teams - while the next four top individuals will also qualify for the national meet.
